VSCK Swordplay
Sonny Umpad's swordplay is elusive, mesmerizing, and tricky. He built a framework that could quickly progress a swordman's skills to "go live," as he called it. In other words, how to apply skills in random, unchoreographed exchanges in a controlled and technical way. How to play and experiment with sword fighting cleverly and safely.
We’ll start by drilling the component skills of striking and parrying. Then, we'll apply those skills to the reciprocal nature of the flow with 1-for-1 exchanges. Lastly, we'll challenge ourselves to apply tricky offensive dilemmas using angle changes and disengagement.
What you’ll learn:
Pendulum
Anino strikes
Repelling strikes
Hiwa strikes
It's a game of wit, not a game of chance. The game of how to hit and not get hit.
